Week two of being in this confusing maze of a city. He decided that now was a good a time as any to prod around the police department for a job. He strode in with probably just a bit too much confidence, hands in his jacket pocket as he began to question various folks for directions. They all seemed to point the same direction, but hell... he was basically stalling, anyway. There was a small concern in his mind about his reputation. Did it precede him? Would they even give a flying fuck?
By now, Griffin was pretty lost in the building that was, well, a lot larger than what he was used to working in. Dark eyes scanned around, studying faces and taking in surroundings. The air seemed stale, the smell of clustered bodies filling his nostrils. Seemed busy enough around here. Surely they'd not mind a helping hand, even if he was a very out of place transplant. Who really knew, though? Maybe this expensive move was a waste. Maybe he'd be stuck working some other god-forsaken job in this dirty city.
With a sigh, he strode forward, narrowly missing officers who were in a hurry or thoroughly distracted. Someone would surely confront him. After all, he looked like some civilian off the street. The long dark hair was catching a few stares, as well.
"This is how I talk." This is how I think.

Tuesday afternoon, a calm day at work. Andrea had finished most of the updates on the software, and her other IT colleague was sitting in his chair, probably playing his game. As far as she knew they both had been productive and it was now time for her break. With enthusiasm she rose from her chair and picked up her medium sized coffee mug. "I'll take my break now" She told the little overweight man in the chair across the IT-office and gently opened the door, entering the open area, the lobby of the department. Sometimes she wondered how her colleague had gotten his job, or at all kept it.
It seemed like it was a busy day for the officers, it was rush times, wich meant that there could have been car accidents, and or probably plently of speed tickets to write. On her way to the coffee machine her eyes fell on a unfamiliar figure. He looked rather lost, a civilian maybe? She hadn't heard about any new people getting hiered. It didn't take long for Andrea to walk over to him, maybe she could help her.
"Hey there! I'm Andrea. Could I help you? Are you looking for someone maybe?" She asked politely and stopped before the man. He was rather tall compared to herself, and it wasn't often she saw people with the features he had. Andrea raised her free hand and brushed a curl behind her ear while she curiously awaited his answer. She would place her hand back down so that she held her cup neatly between both her hands.
It wasn't often people wandered into the department, unless there where someone special they looked for. For example if one of their closest was taken in, if someone or something was lost, if there was something to report or simply because they worked here. Anyhow, she didn't mind meeting new people, in matter of fact, it was something she enjoyed. NOTES ; Sorry, a little short there. ▲Storytelling ▲Speak ▲Thoughts

There was a lot of things going on. All he could do was observe while pondering a load of crap about whether or not he'd get along here. What would the chief be like and how corrupt was this place, anyhow? He didn't have too much time to roll it over in his mind, however, as a rather lovely woman appeared from nowhere, asking he needed some assistance. He took a moment to give her a very brief inspection, trying to take in what kind of person she might be from how she carried herself.
With a shrug, he said, "Jus' lookin' for a job. Was a cop in Oklahoma. Got told to look this way for somethin'." He stole a glance back out into the business about, then landed his dark eyes back on her, taking in the features of her pale face. For a white girl, she was pretty good looking, but as it stood, he'd still rather fancy himself a beautiful Cherokee wife. Good luck to him, he was far from home, now. "Was they right 'r do I need to pitch some applications at minimum jobs?"
"This is how I talk." This is how I think.

Andrea's mind kept wandering about where he came from, or what his business were. When he spoke up she would listen attentivly as he explained his matters. The IT-tech would nod and change the weight on her feet gently as he finished. "Ah! Great, from Oklahoma? Well you've travelled far then." She commented and rose a brow. The state laid in the middle of the country as far as she knew, she hadn't been there herself, but she imagined the settings and all where quite different from the busy streets of Chicago.
"Well, I am just the IT-tech here in the department, so I wouldn't know a lot about hiring jobs, but I could tell the Chief you've been here, I think Elliot, the chief, is in a meeting, but I'm sure he'd welcome you here after a short interview." She replied to his question and tilted her head slightly before she moved her gaze around. It wasn't Andrea's job to hire other cops, she also didn't work in that field here at the department so she would know less about it. Even though rumours travelled fast around. Madden, one of the detectives had mentioned that they lacked people that could be in the field, which when thinking about it, Andrea already knew.
"What's your name?" Andrea asked meeting his gaze. "It's my break now so I could go now at once to see how long it'll be before he is free." She suggested kindly and gestured towards the door of an office. After a few moment of silence she realised that maybe she had talked a little to much in a short period of time? Hopefully she hadn't scared him. Andrea was just glad to see that new people was eager to join them in the department. New blood, new friends and new connections. She had a sweet voice, it seemed. An IT-tech? So she was a nerd, ay? He admitted to himself that he hadn't had much experience with greek types, being very outdoorsy himself. Regardless, it wasn't important, so he tried to not dwell. The mention of the police chief and his name earned a nod of acknowledgment from from Griffin, before he was inquired about his own name. He gave a pause, as if to hesitate, then flashed a small smile, white teeth contrasting against his dark complexion.
"Name's Griffin Adahy. Yours?" he asked, then extended a polite hand for an introductory handshake. Her follow up was a suggestion that he considered in silence before giving another nod. "If it ain't too much trouble. If I could, I'd like t' tag along so I can have a look around."
Something he was noticing real fast while talking to her was the difference in accents. The Chicago accent was pretty... odd, to say the least. Not that he had much to say for himself. Moving here left him noticing his own accent, thick and heavy with hints of southern raising. There was also a tone hidden behind some of his words; an emphasis on the consonants that even the Oklahoman rednecks didn't quite have. The way he said his last name really gave him away with Cherokee being his first language.
"This is how I talk." This is how I think.

Andrea smiled politely when he said his name, Griffin Adahy. She couldn't think of anyone that she knew that carried the same name. She turned her fram slightly towards him as he offered his hand in a handshake and Andrea extended hers, taking his hand. "Nice to meet you Griffin. I'm Andrea Keller, working at the IT department as mentioned." She replied giving a light chuckle before she brushed a loose curl away from her face. In her class back in college there hadn't been many girls that wanted an education in technology. Back in high school Andrea was often called a nerd due her hobby and qualities, but now, it was a term she used often on herself. And she was proud of it.
"Of course, tag along. Would be an advantage for you, plus company is always interesting." She commented kindly and a smile formed on her lips. Griffin's accent was new to her, she had probably heard something near it before. She herself was originally from California, and had learned to use that accent. However since she moved to north to Boston, and then Chicago, she believed that she had probably lost some of the specific marks of the accent. Something her father had confirmed to her once when they talked on the phone. "Have you been in Chicago for a long time?" Andrea asked curiously before the two would walk.
Andrea had began to walk, Elliot's door was the next stop. She hoped that the chief was free, and his meeting was over, if not she was afraid she would disturb him. Hopefully the reason was more than good enough to forgive her if she did. "By the way, this is the lobby of the department, which you probably already noticed. Most of the informants, officers and detective works." She informed and did a slow spin just to gesture the main area they were in. The trainess did also work here, along with those who had the responsibility for lawyers, reports and journalists and the like. "We in the IT-department have our own office over there." Andrea mentioned and pointed towards the door she had recently appeared out from. "And of course the chief has his own office. Which is here." She finished and stopped outside of the door. The curly haired blonde gently lifted her hand and knocked on the door, waiting for someone, hopefully Elliot to answer.

Elliot looked up from his paperwork at the door, raised a brow. Don't you people know not to bother me when the door is closed? He sighed, finished signing the file atop the stack, and set the pen in the cup on the corner of his desk next to his coffee mug. World's #1 Dad. That was a total joke, but for the life of him he couldn't bring himself to get rid of the damn thing. He swiveled round the office chair and walked to the door. "This had better be important," he said, "or it's demerits for you." He opened the door.
His eyes widened at the sight behind the door. It wasn't someone he completely loathed, thank god! "Oh, it's you." He gave the pair a good once-over. "And you. Hmm," he mused, brow knit, "whoever you are." He turned to Andrea again. "Care to explain what's going on here?"

Andrea took off and he followed her, staying on her heels without walking on them. He rolled her name around in his head as she spoke, almost missing her inquiry about how long he'd been a local. He shrugged, then said, "Not long. About two weeks or so." He kept quiet the remainder of their walk, taking in the surroundings up until they reached a very specific door. She didn't have to explain it was the Chief of Police's door, but she did anyway just before knocking on it.
A moment passed that felt like ages, but soon enough there was a white faced man in a tidy suit standing at the door, a displeased expression relaxing as he laid eyes on Andrea. Griffin had to keep from scowling as the man directed a demand for explanations from the woman instead of the man behind her. Before she could say a word, he stepped up to her side and whipped a resume from the inside pocket of his leather and held it out to the Chief.
"I'm here for a job," he said flatly. He gave a simply flick of the paper to punctuate his personal annoyance for being overlooked like that. Already he sensed this guy had an attitude problem of his own. Griffin had absolutely no intention to take that bullshit; he didn't care who or what decided to dole it out. "I have experience. I'm from Oklahoma. Nothing makes me flinch and I get my job done. This is, of course, my resume if you care to go through it."
"This is how I talk." This is how I think.

Griffin Adahy had been in the town for two weeks only. That meant that if he were able to work here, she would no longer be the one who was newest in town. She herself hadn't been here a whole year yet. "Only two weeks!" She commented and rose a brow. "Well, are you enjoying the city so far? When I first arrived it all confused me slightly, even though I've lived in cities before. However just way smaller." Again, Andrea babbled, it was her usual self. In a good mood, her huge curiousness and new people, it was hard to avoid the talking.
The seconds before the chief opened the door were long, and Andrea chose to take a few steps back from the door, just so that she wouldn't stand only inches from the man when he would open the door. Elliot Mackie's voice mumbled something behind the door that Andrea didn't catch before it opened. "Good afternoon sir!" She greeted once he opened then turned to Griffin as the chief asked her who he was. "He was wandering the PD wondering to speak with you concerning a job I believe. I'll let you two discuss that in piece." Andrea politly said and lifted her empty mug meant for coffee. "I'll be fetching myself some coffee and head back to the IT office if anyone wants to find me." She then informed. Waiting a couple of moments, getting Griffin's introduction and letting the chief have the chance to protest or not. "Good luck" Andrea reached out a hand and gently patted his shoulder before she went for the coffee machine. NOTES ▲Storytelling ▲Speak ▲Thoughts

He opened his mouth to speak, but Elliot was unable to get a word in edgewise when he was unceremoniously confronted with paperwork (more paperwork, fantastic). He was somewhat taken aback, unaccustomed to accepting breaches of his authority. He breathed one deep, slow breath, more like an exasperated sigh and took the paperwork with a manner similar to the one with which he had been given it. He mouthed to Andrea, 'go away!' before returning to address the young man once again. "You have a lot of nerve, Mr. Adahy." Still,he glanced at the file, took in the name, date of birth, last four digits of social, et cetera. "You do understand that, even with a positive review, you will have to undergo at least basic orientation and field training?"He crossed his arms, rustling the stack of paper between his fingers in one hand.

Damn was this guy an asshole or what? It was as if he'd never worked as a cop before, despite having worked as nothing but. He raised an eyebrow, clenched his fist and slammed it onto his chest over his heart, holding it there as he said, "Chief, me great warrior, me do this all adulthood, me understand how warrior works," he said flatly. This guy wanted nerve? He'd show him. He, frankly, didn't care if he made friends, but he was undeniably good despite being so annoyingly sarcastic he was told to go elsewhere at his last job. It only took him his entire career thus far for them to do it, so he figured he had until retirement to fuck with this guy and maybe, just maybe, he'd clean the sand from his vagina.
"In all seriousness, I've been in some level of the force since I was graduated from high school, my only breaks existing for more training to advance in the force. I know how this shit works, in all due respect. Sir." The last word was a painfully deep level of snark, his eyes locked onto Elliot's, sizing him up.
