I hung my guns and put ‘em away He had expected Ruby to take no heed to his words and just soldier on with what she wanted to do, that was Ruby’s way after all. She did whatever she wanted to do whilst never thinking about the consequences, about how it could affect everything. Whether that was a pizza slice, or something infinitely more mission critical. It was simply yet another reason on the top of the mountain of crap that turned him off from Ruby.
Ordinarily so, he’d just lose it right then and there, rip into her with the force of a ‘shamrock green’ atom bomb, zero care for any collateral that might get in the way of his tirade. But he had to admit he wasn’t inclined to go down that path today, whatever it was in the air had made him a little bit mellower, although it could so easily change if Ruby was to continue pushing his buttons.
“You know, I’ve never been too fussed by germs.” he told with a slightly flirty tone on his voice, mostly in an attempt to get under her skin.
But surely she had seen his apartment once in the past few years, right? The only place less cared for than himself, was the place he lived in, but that was also purely because it was a dump and the only thing that could make it look better was half a pound of C4.
Shuffling to intercept Ruby, he leaned onto the table once more cutting off her loose hands from getting something she wasn’t supposed to have. He nearly sat on the hand, but the negative personal space they suddenly occupied gave him a bit too good of a look of Ruby, and the rest of Ruby.
“Uh-Uh-Uh… I didn’t hear the magic words, ‘Red’.” keeping his ‘flirty’ tone he grabbed backwards and kept his hand on top of the stack of cans, making sure she wasn’t gonna force the issue twice.

What is happiness if all you know is anger? Walking back to the table, he already noticed Ruby eyeing the food, and the knife in her boot. He didn’t like the woman one bit, but he did hold a begrudging respect for her combat abilities, although he did not wish to know where she had learned said skills, because it certainly wasn’t at the local Y.
“I woke up this morning, that’s what I did.” his Irish lilt having a slight ironic twist to it, his hands went forward and cut Ruby off by grabbing the first slice. “You won’t need the cutty though, unless you’re planning to use it on me.” he said whilst chewing on a chunk of pizza.
Holding the slice in his teeth, he grabbed the tray of coke and pulled a can out of it, the container hissing as it was opened. “’Sides, the pizza is for the ones downstairs, not for you.” he told with the tiniest of grins appearing, but it had vanished quickly when he drowned away some pizza with soda…

What is happiness if all you know is anger? It had been early in the morning, at least for his standards people expected him to be around after midday rather than before. But he had been drinking a little bit less lately, perhaps it had been because Vienne was in some way back in his life, and he at least wanted to show that he had his shit together in some way, so she wouldn’t be worrying about him.
Whatever it was, he was in the warehouse early and he had come bearing gifts. Carrying with him a big stack of pizza’s, free of charge after he had won a bet with some local asshole. And with ‘betting’ he meant he elbowed him in the face after he had accused him of cheating at pool. Which he had been, but that really didn’t matter or dampen his spirits.
Moving into the lounge area, he could hear the familiar thuds of Ruby playing with her blades again. But this time around he was even tolerant of Ruby’s presence, at least for now, if she wasn’t gonna try her luck and get under his skin again, which she so easily was capable of.
Dropping off the pizzas, he ignored Ruby and left her to her own devices and instead made his way into the main warehouse area to alert the rest of the crew what was up.
“Free pizzas for you assholes, get it quick or I eat ‘em all.” he smiled lightly, turning back to get the first slice, and to get a cold coke before they warmed up.

What is happiness if all you know is anger? Lawyers, they were truly the worst thing in his life beyond going to the dentist and/or having to deal with angry boyfriends – or girlfriends – of people he was drunkenly hitting on… But Lawyers were certainly up there on the list of people he had an instant and strong aversion to, regardless of how they acted towards him.
Enigma’s ‘house-lawyer’ Tony Dega ticked all the boxes when it came to someone he would trust as far as he could throw him. He was Italian who somehow wasn’t loyal to Bianchi, at least that’s what he claimed. He was the kind of man that could charm a gay woman into becoming straight and straight men in turning gay. He was basically the perfect lawyer, and that was why he hated him.
Perfection was a joke, he was the very definition of being imperfect and seeing people that had ‘everything down to a tee’ was something that immediately filled him with mistrust. Someone as talented and succesfull as Tony Dega was not with Enigma to change things, he wasn’t there because he hated Bianchi. He was there because they were the best party in town when it came to financial benefits. And the moment that well dried up he would vanish and join whatever side paid him the most, like the mercenary he was.
And he knew full well that every single word he would tell the guy would probably immediately end up in the ears of Ruby Blackwood, the Israeli bitch that had come in with her coffers of money from god-knows where.
But just like going to the dentist, he had to suck it up and play along with his charade for his own good, and for the good of Enigma. And thus when he got into trouble and needed someone to make legal problems disappear, Tony Dega was the guy he had to talk to.
Even though he’d enjoy punching him in the face a lot more than talking.
After having shook the man’s hand, he sat his ass down on the chair opposite to his desk. Which had already been filled with his very thick and impressive dossier. “Please, leave the courtesy bullshit for the people that care.” ‘wise choices’, just the sort of person to act high and mighty towards the people that actually did the work, that actually worked for Enigma because they wanted to change things.
Leaning back in the chair, he took his time waiting on the lawyer to re-focus on his client. “The thing is, me and another person had a disagreement and he thought he could bottle me, so I returned the favour.” other than a few scrapes and bruises, he had been fine. The other guy, not so much.
Of course, with someone as well-known as him, the cops took liberties on the truth and had made up their mind the moment they had seen his name on the report. “Seeing the fucker drew on me, I was defending myself… or whatever.” he really didn’t care about the charge, but Enigma didn’t need him sitting in a cell for a few weeks to stew on his life decisions.
“I know you’re probably busy keeping high-ranking embezzlers away from justice, but I’m sure Enigma would appreciate you keeping my fine Irish ass out of jail.” as much as the former sounded like a joke, he knew that the guido prick in front of him was a big enough scumbag to work for the kind of people that earned their money off the backs of the little people.

Poor Lana getting no replies on her plotter :o
@lana Aiden and Lana seem to be the same chips of the block in terms of mental stability, although they both have their own moments of mental insanity that could one up the other... Aiden is mostly angry at the world and looking for a purpose in life, one he has seemingly found when he got recruited into Enigma a year or so ago... And whilst he's seen all the shit come down into his life, Lana probably has had a bigger mountain of crap to wade through to get where she is today.
Needless to say, they're both angry for different reasons, but their anger can lead to them finding some sort of middle road... Perhaps Aiden feels like he wants to help her 'fix' things in life, mainly by finding whoever had killed her sister and doing something worse to that person. A shared goal, as to say.
