he blonde's actions only reinforced the popular beliefs, regarding the basic kind of men. This was also probably the reason only women reported a rape, since males seemed to have nothing against being cornered and touched by a total stranger. Even so, now that Ruby thought about it, it was probably the looks or the social class that really counted. Everyone here was seen as someone fancy, well mannered and wealthy. Add a pretty outfit to it and you're the perfect undercover murderer. Disappointing. "The guards? A nice blow to the nape would have done it. But we're well behaved, remember?" Ruby smirked, and gave Jacob a wink on that last sentence, flashing the VIP card at the guard once they were passing by him. Honestly the blonde would have loved to use that movie line "he's with me", or something as cliché, but Jacob spoiled her fun. Pity. Red didnt glance at the guard, it would have made it look like they were trying to seem less suspicious. She was trying to think like one of the snobs and what they would do, and she was probably doing a good job so far.
Checking the door, one by one, he said. Just to check inside the room, he said. Oh sweet jesus, how Ruby hated this part of an assignment. Last time she did this, she got caught by the head of the Bianchi, brought on a bridge and Shaun attempted to seduce/recruit her. Blackwood crossed her fingers for this night to end without all of that trouble. " Great.." She mumbled, and walked closer to the right wall, planning on checking the doors on the right, so the two wont get confused if they went on totally random. "Wanna take the left?" Red tucked the vip card in her purse, bending to raise the end of her dress and grab the knife strapped to her ankle. The assassin had two pairs of latex gloves in her purse, just in case. And if Jacob wanted one of them, she would gladly share since that's why there were two. She pulled a white glove on one hand, only to open the doors with that palm. No fingerprints on the knobs meant less paperwork for the cops too. Also less years of prison, but that wouldnt happen anyway. They were both professionals. "Need one?" Pierce got questioned about the gloves.
On the move, checking the rooms one by one, Ruby had the misfortune to find a room that was actually occupied- not like the first 3 she had inspected. She opened the door and peeked her head in, frowning in surprise and disgust and letting out an apology, shutting the door closed. "Dafuq did I just see" These were the moments when holy water would be perfect for washing your eyes. In all honesty, she had walked in on worse orgies anyway..

It's a date! There's murder involved Assassinating was a fun business, Jacob liked to kill and he was great at it, he never regretted getting into this life. Planning, executing, seeing the brief fear in the victim’s eyes before his knife drove into their heart and the person fell dead, Jacob lived for that. But there was some moments, between planning and killing, the preparing everything, the finding the right moment, the waiting, the looking into a hundred rooms because you had lost your target, those moments were not fun. It was tedious and left too much room for error. Jacob looked at the long corridor with a sigh, Ruby’s mumble enough to indicate she did not enjoy it either, but it had to be done. As she asked him to, Jacob took the left after a curt nod in her direction. These were meant to be used as private rooms, from what he understood, if people wanted to unwind or chat a little more privately, he figured. Most of them should be empty offices. Ruby brought her latex gloves, even offering a pair for Jacob to use. “No need, thanks. Got my own.” He was a professional, after all. He took his usual gloves from his pockets, the dark cloth would be enough to avoid any fingerprints. The first few rooms he checked turned out to be empty offices, he barely payed attention to what was inside before closing the door and going to the next. He looked at Ruby curiously when she hastily closed one of her doors. “What’s wrong?” He asked clueless to what could cause such an extreme reaction. The next door he tried was locked, and he peeked through the keyhole, there was an old man sleeping on one of the chairs, or perhaps he was simply dead, Jacob didn’t know or care, since it wasn’t his target. Jacob was startled from trying to peek through another keyhole, by a door opening a little far from him and a voice echoing down the corridor. He straightened himself, going to where Ruby was. He grabbed her by the waist hastily, trying to steer her away from looking suspicious by the doors. His intention was to make them look like any other couple who wanted some private time, so he kept close to his supposed fiancée, smiling and pretending he was absolutely meant to be there. To his surprise it was the target who exited the room, with a pretty red haired woman who was giggling to whatever the man had said. The two passed without a second glance at Ruby and Jacob, ‘It’ll only be a second, dear’ was what he was saying while climbing down the stairs. Jacob had to decide if he would follow the target, or investigate the room the man had just exited. Considering they couldn’t exactly kill the man in the middle of a crowded room, and the party had barely started downstairs, meaning Mr. White would have to stay longer, Jacob decided it would be better to investigate the room. “We should see if can find anything to work with in that room” He told Ruby after he was certain no one else was around, it didn’t cross his mind that he didn’t need to keep his hand on her waist any longer.

She didnt expect Jacob to not be prepared, the contrary actually. He was Bianchi's mercenary after all, she believed that such a highly placed mafia would only hire exceptional people. Pierce was one of those. There was no room for mistake, and frankly Ruby never saw him make any. Maybe, except for that one time when he opened Max's apartment door after picking the lock, without gloves. She was sure it was the masquerade night. Besides that, Birdy had always been on point. "Alright." Really, there was no need for her mind to rewind to those images that would forever stain her retina. Ruby threw Jacob a horiffied, "dont ask" glare. It was better. He wasnt into all the kinky stuff either, if she tried to explain, it would end up being another language for him. Probably. And she would haave thought a charity event was not like some frat party...
A sound of movement. A door was opened, somewhere near the two, signalling potential trouble. Could it be a guard? There was no time to think about it, Jacob hurried closer to Blackwood, and she stopped the room inspecting almost instantly. She put her glove and knive away in her purse, feeling the man's hand on her waist and finally seeing the two strangers move around. Their target! Ugh, if that bimbo wasnt here they could have sliced his liver out. The next occassion, hopefully. Ruby focused on Pierce's face, trying to look as occupied as she could, to the pair that walked past them but didnt care of. She had her wrists on Jacob's shoulders, her fingers toying softly with a black curl from the back of his head. His arm around her waist didnt bother her, and it was a bit surprising, if not to Jacob then to herself. They didnt need to think of a discussion to improvise, since the two persons of interest vanished quickly. Then, he had a good idea. And if the target came back in his room, they could close him there and kill Mr White on the spot. "Good plan." She moved a hand from the mercenary's shoulder to her hair, flipping it out of her face and then proceeding to turn towards the said room. Why was Jacob still holding her? Earth to Birdy~ "My waist wont run anywhere if you let go of it, that I can guarantee." She let out a chuckle. That was actually funny, coming from him. And a bit cute, if the blonde was to ponder more on it..

It's a date! There's murder involved Things could be so much easier if people decided to wander into places by themselves. As it was, Jacob and Ruby had to bide their time, find the right moment to kill the target and make it seem he did something stupid. It wasn’t as easy, Mr. White appeared to be very popular, the kind of person who inspired attention, made people flock to them naturally. Jacob wasn’t sure what he made to sign his death sentence, but he figured even charismatic rich people made enemies. It didn’t matter, in the end, he had to die, and Jacob didn’t ask many questions. There were many ways to die that could be found in an empty room. Slipping and hit one’s head, tripping and falling through the window… They just had to get creative. As the target passed by them, Ruby was quick to get into character, her hand going to his shoulder, playfully tugging on one if his curls. Only a happy couple, looking for a moment away from the crowd, no reason for Mr. White to pay them any attention. He was looking at where the man had disappeared downstairs thoughtfully, and Ruby teasing broke him from his musings, and he realized he still had his arm around her. “Right, sorry.” He hastily let her go, not meeting her eyes. He went to towards the room the target had exited, still pointedly not looking at Ruby. It was stupid, he knew, to be embarrassed for so little. Focus on the job, that was what Jacob had to do. The door was locked, and he peeked through the keyhole to make sure it was empty, before he attempted to pick the lock. It was quite simple, and the door swung open soundlessly, allowing the criminal to enter. It was a spacious office, with a desk, a few chairs, and a couch in one of the corners. Dark blue curtains stopped any light from entering the window, and also gave the room some privacy. At first glance nothing seemed out of ordinary, like Mr. White had used the room but had no intentions of returning. “You think he’ll return?” he asked distractedly to Ruby, as he opened the empty drawers on the desk. It would be strange for the man to actually have a private room in a building on the University, but Jacob really thought they could find something. He let out an annoyed sigh after looking behind the curtain, seeing the garden where a few people mingled through the window. He was about to tell Ruby they should go back to the party, perhaps tail the target until an opportunity presented itself, but something caught his attention on the corner of his eye. It turned out to be a briefcase, innocently sitting beside the couch. Only one person that could belong to. “Would you look at that...” He said approaching it. Upon opening the thing, he found a lot of unimportant papers, a wallet with an ID, some money and a picture of the target with two children, and a hotel key. He showed the last item to Ruby. “It’s the same hotel we are suppose to stay in as part of the undercover” He commented looking at the room number. “We can always get him there. Room 202.” It would be a good place to stage a death, since it was likely he would be alone.

The target was slippery, like you were trying to grasp your hands around a snake and it just keeps escaping your deadly grip. There was no way they could kill the guy while downstairs, it was useless to even think about it. Wherever they would give him a deadly blow, there had to be somewhere to hide them man whily planning the surroundings - since it had to look like an accident apparently. So complicated, couldnt they just wait for him to get closer to the street and then run over him with the car? Twice? Jacob returned on Earth, he must have been planning ahead or running possibilities through his mind, concerning the target obviously. Though, he still appeared as a bit distracted, the lack of eye contact, his quick apology as well as his fast acting after Ruby pointed out a minor thing- what happened? Blackwood was supposed to be able to read every single clue leading to one's behaviour reasoning, but she was no able to point her finger at what was wrong with Pierce. Perhaps because he was no longer in the "ordinary" class, but a good friend? When you actually get to know someone, you learn about their habits, flaws etc. Those messed up the conception of reading him, since he was no longer neutral in this. Ruby gave him a quick inspecting look, trying to note more of his facial expressions or small gestures, somewhat like a one-time Sherlock. The woman pointed her eyes back at the room, and decided not to say anything. Was he embarrassed of something? Can you focus on killing that guy instead of, I dont know, breaking Jacob? Her thoughts ran against her, and the blonde frowned at her own voice in her head, following suit and closing the door after her.
The room was quite cozy, the light made it appear like so. Also the couch, but Red doubted that you could actually have a minute to meditate here with all the daily life's shit. She looked around the walls, searching for any video cameras or microphones hidden in smaller objects, such as a plant's vase or a book; nothing out of ordinary though. In a corner of the ceiling, the small frame of a camera was shown, with a little red dot blinking. "Eyes at 2 o'clock, honey." In case the recording device had a mic incorporated, it was better to leave out any names, though it was not the case, and Ruby hoped that the calm tone in her voice wouldnt make Jacob look directly into the lenses, that would be ashaming. "Does he have a reason to return?" Was her question, as a reply to the mercenary's own. She let Jacob examine the suitcase, since it was his discovery (and criminals didnt steal other's winnings if they were friends) , keeping an eye on the door so no one would come in unannounced. A thought that crossed her mind was to destroy the camera, throw a knife at it; but if the guards saw one screen go off in the security office (something probably any university or dorm, or building at all had) it would raise suspicions. Plus, their images were already registered. The good news came from Jacob soon enough.
"A key? Jackpot. Anything else?" Blackwood apprpached him, looking through the suitcase and seeing the picture too. "Ow, honey, he has kids.. That's like, excitement bonus." She chuckled deviously, smirking and tucking the photo back in its place. Can you imagine those kids living without their father? If he was such a jerk to deserve two assassins on his trail, it was peobably better for his offsprings. "We should go set the place up, unless you wanna mingle some more?" Red teased. "If we're staying in a there too, I'll have to make a phonecall first." To call any of the closest contacts in her father's agency, and ask for a few more gadgets to help make this mission a success, as well as spare clothes. She was not going to sleep in this dress. And if Jacob continued to be nice (which he was) , she'd demand some man clothing too.

It's a date! There's murder involved So the building did have cameras. Or perhaps it was just the private offices that were deemed important enough to be watched. Was it a result of cutting down costs? Or people genuinely thought no one would do something really horrible at the main hall, so security there was unnecessary. When Ruby pointed the camera out, it was natural to look at the direction she mentioned, but Jacob stopped the action midway through, looking at the woman instead, he nodded in acknowledgement, so they needed to be careful with what was said and done here. Jacob disliked immensely that there was someone recording his face, but he couldn’t exactly destroy the camera, that would appear suspicious. Maybe the target would want some privacy, or maybe he was using this room as storage for his briefcase. “Apparently, he does. Unless he left this here on purpose, the door was locked.” He answered Ruby while rummaging through Mr. white’s things some more, but he couldn’t find anything else of value. “Nah, Key is the only thing interesting.” He looked closer at the picture when Ruby commented on it, the people in the photo looked happy, a shame, these kids growing up without a father, too bad Jacob didn’t really care. “Should’ve thought about them before pissing off dangerous people.” He said in a low voice so only Ruby would hear, a smirk on his face. He placed all the things back inside the suitcase carefully, so it would look like no one had touched it. They didn’t need to take anything in there with them, it was just an information gathering kind of thing. It was smart of them to leave early, so they would have time to look around the target’s hotel room and decide the best course of action. “Oh god, no more mingling, please.” He playfully grimaced at the idea, already bored of just thinking about entertaining some random rich guest. He calmly went to the door, opening it again and gesturing for Ruby to exit the room like a gentleman holding the door for a lady. They would have to stay in the room provided, true. It hadn’t crossed his mind that possibility would come true, in his mind the job would be quite simple, even if the staging an accidental death made things a bit more difficult, he thought it would be quick enough so the hotel room would be unnecessary. Turns out they would be sharing a room then. “A phone call? So mysterious…” He teased her “Do you wanna wait until we’re not being watched?” It could be either an innocent call to a friend because she was going to miss something, or it could be something not meant for unwary ears. The walk downstairs was uneventful, Jacob went as far as pleasant nod at the guard who watched the staircase. There was a soft music playing, and people danced on main hall, Jacob would rather avoid that entirely, the ridiculous he suffered on the masquerade was enough to last him a lifetime. They only had to walk to the entrance of the building, and from there it was a short walk to the hotel.

Jacob reacted perfectly to being informed about a camera; he didnt look directly into it, and made the moment seem like the two were just having a casual conversation...while browsing through Mr White's stuff. A locked door could mean only one thing- the target wanted to assure some thing's safety, though he failed in front of an easy lock pick. Well, Jacob made any lock seem like an easy prey anyway. "He's a charity man, he doesnt plant traps." The blonde spoke, more to herself, while she mentally ran through some of the possibilities. Could White have the cover of a money donnor, while he was actually something else? What if he wanted other people to think exactly of that theory, as a defensive shield while he was just a rich scumbag actually. And the more Ruby elaborated, the more complicated this whole situation got. She couldnt wait for it to be over.. "Such uncalculated man." When you put your family in danger, you were a moron. Now, danger was not necesarily involved for his family, but the guy's death would definitely affect those people. None of the criminals cared about the target- since White was only that, a target. Nevertheless, Pierce had a point, messing with the wrong guys could make you a dead person. Like messing with Enigma. Or Bianchi..for that matter..
He couldnt possible comprehend how relieved Ruby was at the sound of his words: "no more mingling". It felt like something divine hugged her on the spot. "Thank you." She chuckled, letting him know from her tone that she was grateful. The woman followed him towards the room's exit, running a hand through her hair as she viewed the hall again. She gave him a small nod as a thank you, for being a gentleman, and accompanied him on the way downstairs. "No, dear, I'll just turn it into a public announcement. I'll obviously wait." The evening had been so boring until a few moments ago, why not let some sarcasm fill in the empty cups? Ruby didnt aim to be rude, but to bicker a bit and make their simple beings less..formal. She sometimes had this urge to make anyone around her realise how they shouldnt be too serious, stressed or angry, when it could be way worse or something terrible could have happened.
Now downstairs, Blackwood's gaze darted around the place, trying to find the target with a bit of luck. It really wasnt her day though. No sight of the man around, but at the second glance, she spotted him talking to a few guests, all near him like he was some sort of preacher. No one approached the duo, which was good, considering that they wanted to retreat to the hotel as soon as possible, and 'set the scene'. "Any idea on when tonight's meeting ends? If it's close to this hour, we might not be able to get to know everyone." Considering that some guard was close by when she talked, Ruby trusted Jacob enough to be able to understand what she meant. He was very smart, no doubt in that. The later the event ended, the more time they had to inspect the hotel and maybe room 202, if the locking system wasnt too complicated (or related to an alarm).
Once they would enter the hotel, Ruby would fish her phone out of her purse and dial a number not saved in the device's memory. On the other end, another woman's voice was heard, speaking only a foreign language. "Shalom Rivka. Could you help me out with a few things? I'm in a bit of a hurry so I'll just send you a quick message with whatever's needed. I believe you could trace the call. Toda!" The blonde left her phone running for 30 seconds and then ended the call while already typing up a message. She noted a few items that could work as a pyjama, and as well as some sweatpants and a shirt for Jacob (taking a wild guess at the sizes he wore). The dress was perfect for covering weapons, that being a reason of choosing it. So there was no need to change it. But what about the cameras? Wouldnt the woman be easier to be recognised if she wore the same attire? The thought of jeopardizing this mission made Blackwood also ask for a new dress. Her contact/friend could probably pick well enough.

It's a date! There's murder involved Donating to charity didn’t mean much, depending who you’re dealing with. Jacob had seemed many rich men who had used such events as cover ups for more shady business and to meet new contacts. As far as he could tell, this one seemed to be legit, the people he had talked to seemed genuinely believe to be helping a good cause, but what did he know? “Maybe he’s a crafty charity man…” He said in response to Ruby, still smirking. In the end. Mr. White could very well be among the dirty businessmen who were only interested in themselves, Jacob didn’t know enough to judge, and didn’t really care to find out. One thing was for certain, to carry around him such a symbol of weakness, telling everyone that he had a family, asking for his kids to be targeted, it was foolish. It made Jacob think he didn’t even realize people could come after him. He asked just to be sure, but he kind of deserved Ruby’s sarcasm for his obvious question. “Oh, really? You should go in the middle of the room and shout then, so more people can hear it.” He replied back with a playful glare. The people thankfully paid the two no mind, distantly he noticed the Scotsman and his wife dancing in the middle of the crowd, as happy as ever, like they were genuinely enjoying the evening. One more swipe of his eyes and he saw the target merrily talking something or another to a small group of people, seemly unware that two assassins had an eye on him. Ignorance is bliss, as some say. Ruby’s question brought Jacob’s attention back to her, and he thought carefully on how to answer. “I’m not sure, but we’ve been here only for a few hours, I think we’ll have plenty of time to meet anyone important. Besides, this is a two night event.” He eyed the passing guard, looking bored and uninterested, no wonder it was so easy to infiltrate this event, it was like no one here even realized it was possible for things to go wrong. As soon as they got to the hotel, Ruby grabbed her phone a called somebody. He didn’t stay to listen what she was saying. He trusted the woman enough to not screw up the mission, on purpose or by accident, since she was also a professional as well. Jacob went to the receptionist, a pretty blond woman who faked a smile easily enough when he talked to her. He gave his fake alias, and sure enough he had a reservation under that name, it was already payed and everything. He just had to give some (fake) information to check in, before the woman gave him the key to room 314. A floor above the one Mr. White was staying. He went back to his ‘fiancée’, who was finishing sending a text from what he could tell, Jacob was curious to what was so important she had to call in the middle of a mission, or maybe it was for the mission...? He couldn’t ask while the middle of the lobby, so he jingled the room key in front of Ruby, to show he was ready to go. “Ready, Honey?” She has been calling him random pet names all night, he could do it too. They didn’t have a suitcase, or anything like that. No change of clothes, no nothing, Jacob’s plan was to not spend the night, just stay around long enough to kill the target and leave before anyone noticed. He called the elevator so they would go first to their room and get settled, waiting for Ruby to join him before pressing the button to the third floor.

A two night event, yes. So plan A was to go to the hotel, inspect the place, wait for the target and filet the man. But what if they failed? If their timing was off, or other people decided to randomly be around Mr White and make the job more difficult, even if something simply didnt work- Plan A would fail. And the job had to be done, that was what Pierce's contract said. While Ruby was sure that her friend had everything under control, or maybe a plan of his own, she couldnt really just be an alibi. It was always good to have a plan B, Jacob himself told the woman that, once. And she was not the kind to forgot any advice. So if their move on the target from tonight failed, they wouls have to get him the next day. If White was accompanied by someone, the two couldnt burst through the door and kill them both (even though it didnt sound bad) , it would be too much trouble with the media and authorities. So the night was out of the question. Would a smoke bomb work? It depends on the room's door actually. Ruby was pretty sure they wouldnt be able to sneak such 'weapon' under the door. So they would or wouldnt have to actually spend the night at the hotel. Better be prepared than sit and make phonecalls in the last minute, she decided.
The blonde nodded once and hummed a 'mhm' as Pierce stated the duration of the event, looking around for anything that might prove useful later. Cars to take cover behind of, in case they wanted to get out in the street and shoot the fucker down (which was not subtle, nor looking as an accident) , any other video cameras, etc.
Jacob finished taking care of the reservation, or the key, at the same time as Ruby ended her arrangements too. Her helper would probably be here in about 30-50 minutes, since there was no hurry. Ruby raised her glare on Pierce, one end of her mouth curling up as he tilted the key. "As always, sweetcheeks." With the same smile on her face, being more of a subtle smirk, Blackwood moved at his side, and towards the elevator. "Is our room close to your cousin's ?" You never knew when someone could be eavesdropping, and until they were in their room, Ruby would be more than careful about that matter. Though, from her past experience, not even the room assigned for your stay could be safe. What if this mission was a trap? "My friend will drop by with some stuff, later. Just dont jump at her throat." Ruby would chuckle when they would be finally in the elevator, and look at Jacob again, finding herself inspecting his whole attire one more time (shamelessly, but more subtle) for no apparent reason. Then she would turn her head away and roll her eyes to catch the glimpse of the elevator's ceiling, all for science purposes.

It's a date! There's murder involved Pet names were a horrible invention, why would anyone call the people they care about such ridiculous names without it being an ironic way? He had no idea. He was sure Ruby was having way too much fun calling him stupid things. So far, he was fine with being called honey or dear, but a line had to be drawn at some point. “Please, don’t ever call me sweetcheeks again.” He grimaced at her, the horrid nickname sounding sour to his ears, but he had a feeling protesting would only make Ruby more determined to call him bad pet names, so after a few moments, he added. “Unless, of course, you want me to call you fluffybuns.” He smiled teasingly. He raised an eyebrow at her question, he knew exactly what she was doing, hiding her real meaning behind lies and half questions, if anyone overheard them talking they would only hear a couple saying mundane stuff. But still, it was just wrong to think of Mr. White being related to him. “He’s staying on the floor above us. But I guess maybe it’s for the best, I would not like it if people realized we’re any way related, he’s so ridiculous.” He hoped Ruby would understand what he meant, the farther they stayed from the target, the less reason people had of suspecting they were to blame when the man died. The elevator doors closed, and up they went, while Jacob completely missed any looks Ruby threw at him. He made a confused noise at what she said. Why was she bringing other people to this mission? “What kind of stuff? Is it safe to just bring people in here?” He trusted her, he really did, but that trust was not extended to whoever Ruby had called. The elevator arrived on the second floor with a ding, the doors opening for them to exit. They arrived at a long corridor, hundreds of doors greeted them, and Jacob was thankful that this time he at least had a number to look for when they went searching the target’s room. It didn’t take him long to find room 314, and he quickly used his key to open the door, motioning for Ruby to enter as well. It was a very spacious room, with a television, a little cooler, a table and two chairs, a soft carpeted floor, but most importantly, it had only one queen sized bed, enough for a couple looking to spend the night, before having to go back to the party the next day. The problem was, Jacob and Ruby were not really a couple, it would be, at best awkward if they had to spend the night, since it was either share a bed or one of them sleep on the floor. Hopefully they would not have to cross that bridge, and plan A would work effortlessly. He looked at Ruby expectantly, as if to gauge what she thought of the room, all in all, with the exception of the single bed, it wasn’t that bad, in his opinion, which was expected for such a fancy party. “Should we wait for this friend of yours to arrive then? Before going to see my cousin, I mean.” It wouldn’t be very smart to go directly at the target’s room, in case there were cameras. He looked at every corner of the room, but couldn’t find anything suspicious. That meant nothing, however, if someone wanted to spy, there were many ways to conceal a camera or a mic.

Aww, how could Jacob dislike the pet names? It's not like, until now, Max had assigned both of them quite a couple of nicknames, some of which they had never used or heard again. And on top of that, Ruby really had fun while calling the mercenary all that stuff, finding new names wouldn't be hard. "Yeah, I guess we shouldn't speak before making sure of that." This place was slowly becoming their teasing battlefield, and it was great. Ruby huffed amusedly, and turned her head at him again when the man mentioned a horrid pet name. Fluffybuns? That was really gross. "Ew. If you ever dare call me that, I won't hesitate to call you Daddy in front of a crowd." With a wicked smirk and a deep chuckle, Ruby turned her head away and waited for the elevator ride to end. "It's stuff for Plan B, and my contacts don't fail. Usually." She just wanted to toy with him a bit, but in all honesty there was not much to be failed. The person just had to come by, leave the suitcase with the clothes and leave. Hopefully sneak some weapons between the clothes too, or any kinds of items that could work in a mission. Now, accidents always happened. The two just had to put together a believable one. Ruby thought about waiting for the target to come out of his room, and then Jacob could smash the door in White's face. With a bit of luck and a broken nose on the guy's behalf, the 'couple' would earn a fainted Mr Target. Then, Blackwood could inject some poison into him, preferably one to avoid showing up on the standard tests taken in the autopsy. The woman had to run that idea through Jacob first, once they were alone. Once the elevator let out a standard 'ding!' , the very freshly engaged couple exited the metal cage and made their way to the room they were supposed to spend the night in. Red took note of their room's number from the plastic numbers applied on the door's surface, and entered the room as Jacob motioned for her to do so. The hotel provided the guests everything they would need, as supposed. A TV for bored moments, cooler for snacks and drinks, plenty of light coming through the windows, a nice comfort level altogether, and obviously a bed for them. Wait..what? A bed? Where's the couch, where's the other bed, whe-- [/b] "Do you see this?" The blonde turned to Pierce again, holding her hand at her chest's level and pointing her thumb at the large bed. Her voice betrayed her current confusion, but her expression would have donethat on its own anyway. Was there something she was missing? Oh dammit, their cover was as a couple! Lose the blonde moments, Ruby. Her thoughts came quick enough. "So we'll sleep together.. One rule? No funny stuff." She was sure it wasn't needed, but if Ruby pointed her finger at Birdy, then he won't be able to enforce that rule on her behalf, or throw blame, or anything like that. Once that was settled, the blonde would check her phone again for the confirmation text, and send the room's number to her helper. "No need to wait for anyone." There was a chance that when the two came from their "visit", the suitcase would be waiting casually for them in the room. Jacob Pierce

It's a date! There's murder involved What was there to find out? Jacob shot Ruby an odd look, somehow not quite grasping what she meant but having a feeling there was an innuendo there. Any thought he might have to try to figure out was tossed out as soon as she continued talking, the threat to call him daddy making Jacob’s expression morph into one of horrific disbelief. “Nonono, nevermind, Forget about fluffybuns. I don’t need this kind of reputation.” That gave an insight of what Ruby was possibly into he wasn’t sure he ever needed to know. He could see Ruby was enjoying the teasing too much and Jacob just rolled his eyes at her smirk. “That’s a bed.” He deadpanned to her question, her confusion was understandable, however, he too somehow expected there would be two beds, or at least a couch, but nope, one bed was all they deserved. Jacob’s mind jumped to the conclusion that someone would have to sleep on the floor, Ruby’s on the other hand, immediately settle that by deciding it was fine to share a bed. “I guess we’ll have to, if comes to it” They were both responsible adults, right? They could handle one bed for both of them, no problem… and they would have to take off the fancy clothes, with no other option to change into… yeah, his face was definitely warming up now, he decided that train of thought was unnecessary to think about, they wouldn’t have to spend the night.. He shot her a playfully offended look at her rules. “What? You’re telling me that. The same applies to you, y’know” He crossed his arms, narrowing his eyes in her direction. It wasn’t like Jacob had any interest in women like that… Ruby seemed to trust whoever was coming to aid them, he shrugged, still feeling slightly suspicious, but he would let her handle that, if something went wrong, at least he would have someone to blame. “Fine then, the earlier we go, the more time we might have.” He shot the room a look one more time, before going to the door and exiting. Still no one could be seem at the corridor, the hotel looking almost abandoned, Jacob figured most people were still at the party, which was good, less witnesses. The target’s room was one floor above them, Jacob took the stairs, thinking waiting for the elevator would be a waste of time. The climb was short, didn’t even left him winded and he creeped along the corridor, looking at the plaques displaying the room numbers. 214… 208… 204… 203… 202! There was a woman with a cart full of cleaning products coming in their direction, and Jacob slowed down his pace to let her pass them by, standing beside the target’s room door, his eyes following the woman’s path, who didn’t seem to notice anything amiss. “Wanna work the lock?” He asked Ruby, still keeping an eye down the corridor in case anyone showed up.

Ruby Red Blackwood | Innuendos were everywhere, in each sentence and each glare, when you were talking to Ruby. At first, she didn't "do" innuendos, but sometime after coming to Chicago, that kind of changed. Maybe it was Enigma's entourage that made her more..outgoing, flirty even. But she was still the same on the inside, still retreated, still a freak. And she wouldn't want to change.
"I'm glad you realised this game can be played by two." She chuckled at his response, thinking of Jacob with a 'Daddy' reputation, with younger women walking at his sides and getting named baby girls, it was...disturbing. Sounded more Bianchi like that needed, and the mercenary's association with that gang really didn't help Red want to barf less. But luckily she was definitely not into that.
That's obviously a bed, Captain Obvious. Ruby gave him a tilt of her head and a bored expression, much like asking him "really??" . You'd have to be stupid to think she was refering to something else in the room, perhaps the painting on the wall. "No shit, sweetcheeks." Red blinked at that, and redirected her gaze to the bed, obviously scolding him for being a smartass with the pet-name he loved so much. Besides, he couldnt call her funny stuff if he wanted to stay reputation-clean.
The blonde walked to the window, pulling the curtains to cover every inch of the glass, as they didn't need anyone to act sniper, not on their behalf. There was a cold light coming from the ceiling lamps, activated automatically, if you put the card hanging from the key into the plastic socket on the wall. It probably powered the cooler too. "I'd be more worried about what we're going to sleep in, that me doing funny stuff in the bed." She said when coming closer again, with a blank expression, but her eyes and the way her head cocked to the side when speaking were very much suggestive. Plus, she gave him a teasing wink. He had no idea she's got that problem covered too, so teasing was at its finest. Was that a..blush, or more like, the beginning of a blush, on the mercenary's face? Blackwood wasnt sure, but she was quick to point it out. "Get your mind out of the gutter, Birdy. Your sweetcheeks are flushed." No more smirking at that point, only a seductive tone in her voice, a moment of eye contact (if he allowed it) and a devious chuckle following. Only then, the smirk. Ruby didnt realise how much she mised having someone to toy with like that, until now.
As they agreed on visiting the target's room, the two made their way to the next level of the building, searching for the right combination of numbers on each door. Ruby watched as some maid passed by, and then looked back at Jacob. "Sure thing." She nodded, moving her hand to her hair and taking out a bobbypin that was just put there for this kind of moments, picking locks. In a moment, the door opened quietly, and the darkness inside of the room let the two know that the target was not inside. For now. ♥ Painting white roses red; Each shade from A different person's head. |

It's a date! There's murder involved Apparently sweetcheeks was going to become a thing now. He preferred when Ruby just called him Birdy, it was less demeaning. And now just the thought of her calling him ‘daddy’ in crowded room made him shudder, he would need to find another way to get back to her. “Shut up about the sweetcheeks.” He said sullenly instead, a frowning at her. As soon as Ruby placed the key cart on a socket on the wall, the lamp bathed them in a pale light, make the room seem more lively. It didn’t matter that he tried to put the fact they had no change of clothes out of his mind, Ruby was glad to bring it up for him. He looked away at her words, not sure why the idea made him feel so out of depth, it wasn’t like it would be the first time sharing a bed with someone (for sleeping, he meant, nothing else was happening!!) “Well… Maybe we won’t even need to worry about that, it shouldn’t be that hard to kill the target. Before you know it, we’ll be leaving.” He wasn’t sure if he was trying to reassure himself or convince Ruby, but the best way to deal with a problem like that was to avoid it until he couldn’t anymore. The same could be used to deal with his flushed cheeks, avoidance. “You’re being ridiculous, My mind isn’t anywhere, and I’m not flushing.” Her voice though, why was she talking like that? It made his heart speed up a bit for some reason, his mouth went dry and the warmness of his face just seemed to increase. He made sure to keep his back turned to Ruby so she wouldn’t see his face, leaving the room in brisk pace that could only mean he was in a hurry to kill the target, it wasn’t anything like him trying to escape the blonde woman and her weird mind games, at all. Focus, kill the target, make it an accident. That was what should be in his mind right now, finish the job without botching it up, how hard could it be? By the time they were in front of the room and Ruby was picking the lock efficiently, the blush had already disappeared, thankfully. The door swung open silently, and a spacious room bathed in darkness greeted them. Jacob quickly made him way in, shutting the door behind him without paying much attention if Ruby had entered as well, he wanted to finish this as soon as possible. He started seeing the details of the room, it was pretty similar to the layout of Ruby and Jacob’s room, except it looked more lived on, with a few clothes scattered about and suitcase in one of the corners. There was a window covered by a long curtain that Jacob went to inspect a bit closer. It was a fair drop down, could certainly kill if diving headfirst, a good option for an accident, make it look like Mr. White slipped and fell down, but surely they could do better than that…

Ruby Red Blackwood | The woman's senses got drowned in disappointment when the flushed face of the "masked mercenary" turned out to be out of her vision. Dammit! She couldnt even enjoy a small victory? Making Jacob blush seemed like a great achievement, in all honesty. They were both criminals, killers, raised in a world full of fake emotions and hidden intentions, so concealing their feelings and moods was no longer a luxury- but a daily routine. Though, why would Jacob need masks if he was able to do such thing? It might be his weakness, to have to offer his emotions on a platter, but certainly it was not a weakness around Ruby.
"Pff, cant make me." An amused chuckle came as a reply, and Ruby refused to let go of the 'sweetcheeks' , figuratively speaking. This was so juvenile, but Red couldnt stop thinking how golden this whole moment was. She would rat him out to Max eventually, for blushing for no reason. Or was there actually a reason..? Yes there was, that information alone made the woman feel like she had won something.
Ruby let him offer himself moral support, or what seemed more like some pep talk. His reaction at her whole playing was hilarious, and satisfying if she was to be honest. But that wont put an end to the blonde exploiting his current embarrassment. "Denial is the first step, honey." Her suave voice reasurred him, coming from behind while she followed him out of the room. Red hoped to give him chills with that, but wasnt totally sure where she was going with this whole game. Focus. But focus on what? The target was not around, as they had realised when entering the empty room.
"Does it look like he's here alone?" Ruby questioned with a quick glance, while her eyes adjusted to the different (lack of) light. A coat on a hanger, light luggage, the place looked a bit like Max's apartment, when on the verge of looking like after a hurricane passed through. The hotel room was still more arranged, and lacked the chinese takeout boxes.
So they couldnt really do much about the darkness, they didnt have this room's power card and judging by the time, the moon wouldnt provide god knows what amount of light. It was obviously enough to see stuff, if you were near the window as Jacob, but only there. Blackwood pushed the door slowly, closing it and making sure it could be opened (or the lock could be picked) from the inside too, so they wont get stuck here. An opened door raised suspicions in a hotel. Then, with even less light (the illuminated hall no longer helped them) she walked further into the room, trying to figure out what could be pushed on top of the target. The coat hanger sounded like a cartoon show's option. Same for the standard painting on the wall. "Found anything?" The woman questioned, picking up her dress with a hand to turn around and walk towards Jacob, without stepping on it and stumbling. He was looking at the window, but instantly Ruby thought that wouldnt be a valid option. Anyone would figure out White was pushed, and they didnt even have to be great detectives. "Fucking dark" It was, and it annoyed the blonde that she couldnt see the carpet' dunes. She stumbled for a second, her free hand instinctively going for something to hold onto (in her case, Jacob's shoulder) . Then she let go of the end of her dress and rested that palm on the dresser next to them both. Since her momentum was ruined, she leaned against the man a bit too quickly or harshly. Typical stumbling outcomes, bad timing. "Shit. It's all your fault." No it wasnt, and her voice didnt need to be playful as a tonality for him to understand that either.
