An express delivery of a mystery package It was like Alessandro suddenly remembered he just met Jacob, and that it wasn’t really wise to go trusting any strangers, even if they were supposedly on the same side. He met the man’s suspicious stare head on, tilting his head slightly, wondering what Alessandro would do. Nothing changed, and the man just agreed to go. Jacob followed closely behind, the mansion had a few people lounging around, who looked up almost as soon as they entered, before resuming whatever they were doing. What did they expect? Enigma to come knocking? At any case, Jacob and Alessandro just ignored those people, and in turn , they were ignored as they made their way to the same office they had used to get the instructions for the job. They soon arrived in front of a closed wooden door, and his companion knocked shortly, and soon enough, a deep voice told them to enter, Alessandro took the lead, entering the room before Jacob. Inside there was a long desk with a few people, and he was honestly surprised by that, perhaps the mission was a bit more important that he first expected, if all this people were interested in hearing about it. As expected, one of the men asked about the mission, and Jacob crossed his arms and let Alessandro explain, looking in disinterest for all intents and purposes. He could see why it would be intimidating for someone not used by all the power plays and how much of a dick people who paid you could be, so he couldn’t fault Alessandro for hesitating before speaking. For a moment Jacob thought the Bianchi would be really mad when it was explained the package was opened before its time, and he was about to interfere and say it wasn’t their fault, and even stepped forward, but Alessandro explained further, and even kept his cool while doing so, which was a bonus. It was enough to calm their employer down, clearly he wasn’t much satisfied with how things played out, but it was enough, thankfully. They were dismissed soon after, and Jacob exited the room as silently as he had entered, he would count this mission as a win, though, he noticed the man failed to mention they didn’t stay to see if the woman survived, but she probably wouldn’t for very long, blood loos wasn’t something to laugh at, and he doubted she had a way to seek for help. “You did fine, even managed to avoid a scolding when you said things didn’t go as expected.” He nodded with a satisfied tone of voice, tapping Alessandro lightly on the shoulder. “Mission successful, I’d say, and now, I’m off.” He got to see what he wanted, there was no reason to stay any longer, he shot a look towards Alessandro and raised his hand in a small wave. “It was nice to meet you Alessandro.” He shot him a smile the man couldn’t see, but his vice was light and friendly. And with that, he left the Bianchi Mansion.

You take what's mine And i put laugh in slaughter Any other day, Jacob would be having fun by killing these people, gunning them down like the rats they were while delightfully laughing as the blood flow freely and splattered everywhere, staining the walls and floor with a pretty shade of red. But they took Max, they took his cop, and most likely they hurt him, there was no joy in Jacob, only rage, hate, thirst for vengeance, he wanted to get his hands in every single bastard who dared touch Max and tear them to pieces, make an example out of them as to why nobody touches what’s his, or the people he cares about. Because that was the truth, wasn’t it? He could barely contain his emotions, his anger felt overwhelming, and all that because he allowed himself to care, got close to a cop who shot him the first day they met. And he wasn’t fooling himself, it wasn’t one, but two people who he allowed to pass through his barriers, Ruby was just as important, and had she been the one taken, Jacob would have done the same thing, barged through, guns blazing, killing anyone who stood on his way. He felt vulnerable, but at the same time, it was like those two gave him strength. As the first two fell down dead with Jacob’s bullets, Ruby entered the room not far behind, her semi-automatic spraying bullets and destroying everyone on their path, the enemy didn’t even have time to breath a surprised yell, before they were falling to the ground like flies. The scent of blood permeated the room naturally, and the slaughter Ruby and Jacob were inflicting only made it worse. It was the smell of death. Jacob’s assault rifle sprayed in a bullet hell until it made a click as he had emptied the entire magazine in a few minutes, he could see some of the more lucky rats had managed to find cover and didn’t die on the first assault. Good, it was one more excuse to Jacob play with them. Entering deeply into the appropriately named slaughter house, Jacob was finally able to see Max, his heart sunk, and he had a moment of distraction where his worry got overwhelming and he froze. His friend, Max hanging on meat hook, like a cow ready for slaughter, blood pooling on his feet, and for a horrifying moment Jacob couldn’t tell if the man was breathing or not. What if they were too late? He was brought back to the moment by a hand grabbing his shoulder and someone attacking him with iron pipe. He managed to dodge, if only barely, and used his rifle push the person back. He took the pipe from the man’s hand, using it to hit him on the head, once, twice, three times and the man fell limp, blood splattered not only on the ground and the weapon, but also on Jacob. Panic filling his chest, he turned to see Ruby hacking away someone’s head. The few still surviving people were scattering, trying to escape the hell the two of them had brought upon them, but it was no use, no one here but Max, Ruby and himself would walk away tonight. He shot one more look at Max, the urge to go to him and see if he was fine was strong, but he had to kill everyone first, or they could turn the tables on the slightest distraction. There was a table full of bloody torture instruments, and Jacob felt his blood boil, it was obvious whose blood that was. On the corner of his eye he saw someone pointing a gun to where Ruby stood, the woman was distracted burying an axe in someone “Oh no, don’t fucking dare.” He muttered grabbing the first thing he could reach, a spiky sort of chain, and run towards the armed person. The little rat wasn’t expecting an attack from behind, when the chain was wrapped around the person’s neck, they dropped the gun quickly, and Jacob pulled at the ends of the chains, the spikes digging into skin, blood pooling at their feet, choking noises were the last sound that rat made. He shot Ruby a glare, and she sent him a meaningful look regarding the axe. He tilted his head curiously, before extending his arm to grab the weapon. He could see one last surviving man, agonizing with a few bullets holes on his legs. Jacob approached him, dragging the bloody axe behind. The man muttered some pleas, begging for mercy or something equally useless. Jacob had no mercy to spare though, only rage, and a thirst for vengeance. He smirked lightly, looking down at his victim and raised the axe before stiking down, first on the man’s leg, which mad him let out a terribly delightful scream. The axe got stuck on the bone, and Jacob had to shake it slightly to loosen it. He brought the axe down a second time, the victim still screaming, in pain or fear until he couldn’t anymore, the axe now embedded on the man’s neck. He looked around the slaughter house, there was blood everywhere, including on himself and Ruby, but from what he could see, there was no one unimportant left alive. He dropped the axe quickly, before lifting the demon mask on to the top of his head and running towards where Max was hanging, his feet leaving bloody footprints where he stepped. He hugged Max by the waist to lift him up so Ruby could undo the restraints. He made sure to be mindful of the man’s wounds, but there were so many and there was so much blood, he wasn’t sure how successful he was. He gently held the cop once he was out of the hook, his bloodstained hands that were killing without mercy not five minutes ago, now light and careful, his fingers went to Max’s wrists, looking for a pulse, and relief flooded him when he felt a steady beat of his heart. It was weak, but it was there. “Sorry for the wait, Max, you're fine now.” He said softly, his voice full of care, more than he had ever shown anyone, but at that moment, he didn’t care to keep his composure, he just wanted his cop to be okay.

@jillian & Jacob Pierceif they ever have the squirrel argument Jacob wouldd be like "why do you care they are not pets, they are just squirrels, there's loads of them everywhere" and then they can never be friend lmao i'm not sure how he'd react to her tbh, he can be grumpy and murder happy, but when around civillians he usually puts out a facade of friendness, we'll have to see. Awww, it just feels lonely because Max is away one day, but he comes back again because it has a stomach ache, to the point Jill just fugures this guy just worries too much xD i guess it'll be cool to throw them together and figure from there lmao

@jillian & Jacob Pierce J&J as demi buddies lol anyway, this is jacob, he's a freelance IT tech, if anyone asks, but also a mercenary on the side, so here's a criminal to add to Jill's contact list. He has a history of being mean to animals, specially squirrels, and don't usually care if he sees a dying puppy on the snow. However, recently he gave his friend Max Madden a german shepard puppy as a birthday gift and now it's the only pet he genuinely cares about and i had this idea of him having to look after the puppy and something goes wrong and it starts to whine and look sick and he's just panicky and goes to the clinic thinking he did something and the dog is dying, but it's actually something really dumb like he ate too much xD add or subtract anything, idk, ideas??

You take what's mine And i put laugh in slaughter Well, if Ruby pretended she didn’t see anything, Jacob could pretend he never took anything as well. All would end well, and no cops needed to get angry. They just would have to sneak in and place the guns back before Max could miss them, it wasn’t that hard. But in honesty, if the guns helped them get Max back unharmed, he would endure all sort of screaming and tantrums from the cop, he just wanted his friend to be fine, to be safe, all the rest was pointless. The keys Jacob tossed to Ruby were quickly discarded, Jacob didn’t see the woman’s car when he arrived at Max’s place, but then again, he was more worried about the cop than to pay attention to any vehicles smeared in animal blood. Well, at least it would be one less thing of Max’s they would destroy. He was barely seated when Ruby also entered the car, she didn’t bother with any safety and was smashing her foot on the accelerator, the car lurching into movement violently, traffic laws were ignored, but for once, Jacob didn’t have single word of complaint. The only thing Jacob spoke were directions, turn that way, follow this road, left on that corner. Ruby followed diligently and what should have been a drive of 40 minutes turned in a 15 minutes run. It still felt like it took too long, but eventually they lurched into a stop at the front of the slaughterhouse, it looked innocently quiet, but Jacob’s anger raised again at the sight. He placed the laptop on the backseat and grabbed his rifle before exiting the car. “Pfff, I have no idea what that means.” No mercy, only death. These people would pay for taking what was Jacob’s, for taking their cop, and if they hurt Max, Jacob would do worse to them. Jacob wanted to see blood, and nothing would persuade him otherwise. He didn’t know if there would be cameras around, there was no time to check. He’d like to take a look around the perimeter, figure out the best entrance point, sneak inside silently, those were his best skills. But Max could be dying right now, he would have to content himself with barging through the front door, and this time, he would go all out, no underestimating anyone. He approached the entrance, shooting a look at Ruby so she would follow him. He silently counted to three, before slamming the closed door and breaking it open. There were a few people on the inside, they were startled by the sudden break in, like they never expected someone to actually find them, they weren’t even holding their weapons. Jacob on the other hand, was more than ready, he killed two people without much thought before they could even react. He saw a third one running the other direction, probably going to warn whoever that there were intruders about, but Jacob didn’t worry much, he wasn’t expecting stealth in this particular mission.

You take what's mine And i put laugh in slaughter Ruby was snappish and impatient, her worry clearly making her reckless. Her words regarding the card was a sign she wasn’t thinking straight. As much as Jacob was worried as well about Max, he didn’t want to go in blind and end up with all three of them dead, he’d rather carefully plan their course of action, come up with a way to get Max out unharmed Instead of bursting in, guns blazing and risk making the situation worse. He realized, however, that they didn’t have much time to waste, every minute spend was one more minute of Max being on the enemy’s hands, and who knew what they were doing with their cop. “It matters if we don’t want to be ambushed.” He clarified, shooting her a brief glare, before turning his attention back to what he was doing. As much hurry as they were in, a few guns were always welcomed, and he was glad Ruby thought so as well. He waited for her to pick a gun first, a semi-automatic that would do quite the damage in a bullet spray. “He didn’t want me to tell you, he probably will be angry with me for this, but he should have thought of that before being kidnapped.” Even if he was still joking around, there was tenseness on Jacob’s tone, the words sounding bitter to his own ears. He quickly selected an assault rifle, the shotgun he used before was back on its place, and it was a good weapon, but too slow for is tastes. He was used to moving quickly, so a quick firing gun was better suited for him. He quickly closed the secret drawer after that, making sure it was locked before leaving the bedroom. He shot a look on his way towards Ruby, curiously watching as she gathered some clothes, presumably for Max. Time to go, Jacob had no car with him, it would be stupid, his identity was already plenty compromised when it came to Jack White, he did not wish to add to it by using his personal car. Max’s car, however, was fair game. Quite familiar with the cop’s residence as he was, it wasn’t difficult to find the car keys, he tossed them to Ruby without much thought “You can drive, probably will make us get there faster, just don’t kill us on the way.” Only a truly desperate situation like this would make Jacob willingly give Ruby control of a car, they would probably have to compensate Max for the destruction of his vehicle, but right now, the most important thing was to get to their cop as fast as possible, if Jacob had to have a near death experience in the form of reckless driving, so be it. He spared Lucius a quick reassuring pat before grabbing his laptop, still with the map that showed the way to the slaughterhouse open, there was no way they could take the puppy with them, it needed much more murderous training before it was in any shape to aid them in rescuing its master, it was a shame to leave the dog alone though, thankfully Jacob wasn’t the most empathetic person, so he didn’t really mind much. He exited the apartment quickly, trusting Ruby to be not too far behind him, and went to the parking lot towards the now known police car Max owned. The rifle he had chosen was slung over his back, not very conspicuous, but people would probably be more worried about the speeding car than any possible guns anyway. He climbed on the passenger’s seat and waited for Ruby to do the same on the driver’s side. The laptop stayed on his lap, so he could use it to help Ruby navigate, and Jacob took a moment to cover his face with the Japanese mask Max had given him as a birthday gift. The mask’s presence served also as a reminder of what was at stake here, the anger Jacob felt for Jack White was silent, cold and deadly, he would enjoy cutting that man up like pig, but he also needed a clear head to not make any harsh decisions. He fastened the seatbelt and was ready to go.

An express delivery of a mystery package It was appreciated the way Alessandro did not question the fact Jacob didn’t share his name, points for him. It was little things like that that were accumulating and made his opinion on the man grow. Who knew, perhaps he would grow to enjoy the other’s company, very unlikely, but he wished most Bianchi were as easy to get along with. As it was, more often than not Jacob got the short end of the stick as far as meeting the decent people went, there was Valeria, but he only talked to her twice, and she was just a civilian who knew too much, he could do with someone on his side who was also capable to take care of himself, even if Alessandro wasn’t very experienced, that could be fixed, after all. Alessandro chose to call him Mask, it was a fitting nickname that most people used, if not very original. But then again, not everyone was like Max, who gave people a hundred and one nicknames to everyone he met. Jacob just nodded at the choice. The man seemed nervous once Jacob brought up the impending report, causing Jacob’s smirk to widen, amused by his reaction. He watched as Alessandro went ahead, following in a slower pace, since the newbie was the one who was supposed to go and do his job. He didn’t expected him to turn around and ask if Jacob would come with him, the light chuckle that escaped him was impossible to hold back, it reminded him of a child on their first day of school. “Yes? Unless you want me to go. I would totally understand if you rather do it by yourself.” Jacob was well aware Alessandro would prefer the moral support from Jacob, or whatever it was the man expected from him. Lucky for him, Jacob was having too much fun watching him struggle to do a simple task, and had no intention of leaving, even if Alessandro told him to. He looked expectantly to what the man would reply, ready to keep following him inside the mansion.

An express delivery of a mystery package So eager to heed any advice Jacob said, it could be said it was a dangerous thing, to listen to a stranger when it came to surviving in the crime world, but in all honesty, Jacob didn’t really care if his companion listened to him or not, he was just sharing his own experiences in this life, and that included a lot of backstab and nasty surprises. In the end, Jacob could tell the man how many stories and advice he wanted and as in much detail, but nothing taught survival better than hard earned experience, and that’s exactly what they both just gained: experience in what to expect from the Bianchi family as allies. He honestly didn’t want to know how they treated their enemies. But now that he thought about it, he already had a pretty good idea. There was a brief silence after Jacob was done handing out advice to the newbie, enough time for them to arrive at the mansion. He parked the car quickly, not bothering to go all the way to the mansion’s parking lot, the Bianchi had an army of staff to do that, he just wanted to get to the front door fast. The man, Alessandro apparently, suddenly asked for Jacob’s name. He tilted his head curiously, thinking how to best answer that question. “Nice to meet you Alessandro.” His American accent really made the man’s name sound odd, but that was not his problem. “I don’t make a habit of sharing my name, to be honest, nothing personal, just like to make it harder if someone wants to find me” He actually thought Alessandro was pretty okay, a rarity among the Bianchi. “You can call me… Mask? Bunny? Birdy? I don’t know, whatever strikes your fancy.” He had so many nicknames, maybe he should write then down to keep track. He exited the car shortly after, time for the moment of truth, Alessandro could show what he was made of, make a proper report, start to make his name known among the family, show what he was capable of. Yeah right, it wasn’t that big of a deal, but the man needed to know how to do these things, and Jacob wanted to watch him do it for the first time, for science. “Ready for that report?” He asked his companion as he made his way towards the mansion’s entrance, a smirk hidden behind the mask. Who knows, maybe they would be lucky and there was no one around to report to, and then they could forget it later… nah, Alessandro wouldn’t forget, probably wanted to prove he could do his job properly too much for that.

You take what's mine And i put laugh in slaughter As soon as Ruby spotted him entering the apartment, she started explaining what she knew. It wasn’t much, only what she could see when she arrived. It was clear someone invaded the apartment, and apparently mistreated the puppy as well, the poor thing looked like it was scared to be alone, following Ruby around, ears down. He grabbed the card the woman handed him, it was a simple business card, with a phone number, but more importantly, a signature. “Jack White…” He said quietly, anger burning more at the idea that bastard who tried to kill him now had Max in his filthy paws. “We should have killed him.” He said frustrated, a frown appearing in his face at the thought that he was the cause of all this, if only he had done his job properly. Not only he had burned his chance with that particular client, who, as expected, was not happy to know Jack White had escaped, but now the target knew there was someone really out for his blood and would be even harder to kill. And now Jacob’s failure had come back to bite him, and as expected, his friends were affected in the crossfire. There was no time for him to debate with himself how much of a disaster this all was however, Max was in danger, and they needed to find him fast. As Ruby had said, the card had a phone number, Jacob should be able to trace it if the person wasn’t smart enough to turn it off. “This card, was it placed deliberately or it looked like it was left by accident?” He asked while he took his laptop from the bag and turned it on. If it was left on purpose, it could mean two things: They expected Jacob and Ruby to go look for him and it was a trap if the phone was on, or they expected the two assassins to look for him and would get rid of the phone. Overall, it would make their lives easier if it was an accident. With quick strokes of his fingers on the keyboard, Jacob started to try and trace the location of the phone. It took a few minutes for the program run its course, It did found the number, so at least they could have an idea where they could have taken Max. The location was narrowed down to America, than Illinois, then Chicago. At least they hadn’t left town, he could tell the area was around a few industrial buildings, but was still way too large for his taste, too many places to look, but so little time. He was trying to narrow it some more when Ruby spoke, he briefly looked up at her before going back to typing, the anger in her voice very clear. “I can tell you he’s in some industrial location, somewhere in the southeast of town, but without a direct connection is hard to tell where exactly.” His voice was quiet, sounding distracted as he concentrated, if only he could trace a call… And luck seemed to be on his side this time, as he managed to intercept a phone call right at that moment. “Got something.” with a few key strokes he managed to put the conversation so he and Ruby could listen. There was man he had never heard before, and the voice of Jack White, they seem upset because ‘he refuses to talk’ and Jack White told the other man to do whatever was necessary to ‘find those two.’ Jacob’s angry glare intensified, his typing becoming more aggressive. White was a dead man, that was the only thing Jacob was determined to make come true. He barely payed attention to the phone conversation, more worried about finding the location it was coming from than the words spoken. “Ohhh, There are in some kind of slaughterhouse, the cheeky bastard. We have to hurry.” he finally said after a few more minutes, the phone call had ended by then, but it was enough. He got up, gathering his equipment again. But before leaving, there was one more thing he had to do. “But before we go, let’s get some things.” He said making his way towards the bedroom. He remembered where the secret weapons compartment was, with a push of a button, a panel was revealed. That day of the gunshot fight, he was behind Max when the cop revealed the hidden drawer and couldn’t see the exact code, but he wasn’t a hacker for nothing and he had an idea of which numbers were, in the end, it wasn’t that difficult to crack through the defenses to reveal Max’s diverse weapon collection, the cop should invest in better security... “Take your pick, Ruby.” He said with a grim smile, Max had told him to not reveal those to the woman, but the circumstances were different then, desperate measures and all that.

You take what's mine And i put laugh in slaughter It had been a busy day. It was like everyone suddenly remembered Jacob existed to solve people’s problems, he went from one side to the city to the other, and the worst part was that it wasn’t even the fun job who demanded such attention. It wasn’t a sudden increase in assassinations or information gathering. No, it was misbehaving electronics that demanded Jacob’s time and effort, he didn’t remember the last time he actually worked so much as an IT tech in a single day. It was tiring too, not the technical side of things, but having to deal with people and pretend he was a normal person, all nice and pleasantries for people who didn’t know the concept of turning a computer off and on again. Sometimes he thought this front wasn’t worth the effort, but then he remembered it was important to keep his identity hidden, and he just had bear with it. By the time he was finished and arrived back at his apartment, he noticed that his phone had no battery and hoped no one tried to contact him with anything important. It wasn’t really concerning, if it was truly important, they would call back later. Jacob didn’t plan on leaving his house again that day anyway, just enjoy the peace. But he had no such luck, as he heard his phone ringing not long after he was done charging it. The screen informed him it was Ruby, and he briefly considered not answering, or just telling her he was busy. He really didn’t want to go out today. He answered, but his sarcastic greeting died before he could say it, the distressed tone on Ruby’s voice immediately putting him on high alert. Her words were even more worrying. “WHAT? Hey, hey, slow down, are you in his apartment?” What did she mean, someone took Max? Who would dare? Anger boiling inside him, mixed with worry at the pit of his stomach he sprung to action. “I’m on my way.” He informed Ruby, hanging up the phone and quickly grabbing his things. She said she had a phone number he could trace, so he grabbed his laptop to bring along, but he had to make sure it had the necessary programs to do so first, so he wasted more time on that than he was comfortable with. If someone really took his cop away, they would pay dearly, there would be no amount of begging that could make Jacob change his mind. He grabbed a very special mask without put it on just yet, along with a few weapons. But he intended on raiding Max’s stash for this, the cop had way more guns than was strictly necessary, and it would be nice to put them into good use. Jacob made his way to Max’s apartment as quickly as possible, worry clouding his judgement, making him think of all the horrific scenarios of what could have happened, Ruby’s words dancing around his head, they broke in, he’s nowhere, they took Max. He all but run to the building’s front door, his hands shaking when he attempt to pick the lock, which meant he took longer than usual to open a simple door. Once inside, Jacob didn’t bother waiting for the elevator, he run upstairs, so eager to get there he barely felt himself get winded by all those flight of stairs. He got to Max’s door, and as Ruby had said, it was busted open. He wasted no time waiting around, and entered the apartment hurriedly. “Ruby?” he called to her, worry still very present on his voice. The apartment was a mess, but not because Max didn’t know the meaning of cleaning this time. It was raided, things were purposely upturned, like the people were looking for something. A deep angry frown appeared on his face, as he cautiously made his way through the mess, looking for Ruby. He found her with the puppy by the kitchen. “What happened?” he asked in a dark tone, unable to contain all the anger from his words.

It's a date! There's murder involved Of course saving each other over and over again was a better option than having to mourn his friends as many times, that was an obvious truth, and Jacob knew personally well how terrible it was to lose close friends, four of them in a single day and one was even directly because of his choices. He didn’t know how he would react if he lost Max and Ruby, their friendship had only grown stronger and stronger the longer they spent time together, just the thought of how Max could be shot by some bandit, or Ruby falling dead made his jaw clench, and a frown appear on his face. “Yes, I guess almost dying is still better than actually dying.” The most surprising thing was that Jacob believed the sentiment was mutual, and Max and Ruby would feel just as bad if he was the one who died. That was one of the reason why it was so important to Max know the truth. Max didn’t deserve to be deceived, Jacob wanted to spill everything out, let the words out and explain himself before it was too late, for what, he wasn’t even sure. But he didn’t get the chance, his voice trailed off as Ruby entered the room, the words dying midway through, and he let out a sigh of defeat, when would he be able to gather courage again to talk to Max, he didn’t know, but Jacob know he wouldn’t stop thinking about it until he explained everything. By the cop’s stare, he could only assume that Max knew he had something important to say too, and probably it would be brought up again another time. For now, Jacob could pretend everything was fine, and focus on little unimportant things, like the fact that Max changed the name of his dog to Lucius, it sounded very fancy for a puppy to be honest. “Lucius? That doesn’t sound very puppy-ish, I think Max was more fitting.” And Ruby seemed to agree, her words reminded him that he still hadn’t given Max the dog’s papers… Jacob didn’t remember seeing the dog today anyway, and now that he thought about it, he didn’t remember riding in a car on his way to the hospital either. How close to actually dying was he? The doctor said overdose, and he certainly panicked when the drug was injected because he was scared of dying, but was the risk really that high? What was done was done, and now Jacob could deal with the consequences, be stuck in a hospital bed and wait. At least he had his friends to keep him company now. And how did that change? Last time he got sent to the hospital by Max, Ruby somehow found out and Jacob could only be filled with dread the moment she stepped inside the room, and for good reason, she bought drugs and he had no doubts she would take full advantage of his weakness, and now he was the one who asked to see her, and so far, she didn’t seem very inclined to start hurting him. But maybe it wasn’t so difficult to pinpoint when the big shift happened though, Jacob saved their lives, stood up to his boss so they would not die, risked his own life for then, even if he regretted five seconds later, and that situation just brought them closer, made them each other’s liability… Max didn’t seem bothered to have to sit on the floor, but for Jacob it didn’t felt right for him to stay on the uncomfortable, cold stone while he had a perfectly good bed to share. Thankfully, the cop didn’t protest before accepting his invitation, and sat down on the other side of the bed. Max’s hand found Jacob’s a second time, which made him look up, curious to know what all this hand holding meant, until Max pressed his pulse, felling his steady heartbeat under the skin. “You do know the beeping in the monitor is my heart, don’t you?” He said quietly, a little amused. But soon they were interrupted, a nurse coming in to say visiting hours was over. That was stupid, it felt like they were barely an hour here. “What? Already?” He shot and frown at the nurse, who just smiled, apparently amused by what Ruby said. If she only knew ‘It’s already quite late’ she said, and Ruby didn’t even protest being shooed, she did made a pause, as if deciding something, and Jacob expected another hug, but it never came. “I make no promises, I’m already bored.” He smirked at the blonde, and as soon as his friends were gone, a look of annoyance came over him, no what was he supposed to do? The nurse scribbled something on his medical papers, checked his IV quickly, and then left. While Jacob was left alone to dwell how much he screwed up on this mission.

An express delivery of a mystery package Was it better or worse to have your family caught up on this kind of life? On one hand you didn’t have to lie, and they knew what they were getting into enough to protect themselves and expect the worst, on the other hand it was dangerous and brought so many expectations. If he had to choose, Jacob would stay exactly as he was, the only one in the family who had any involvement in crime, while everyone else remained oblivious, and for that he went to great lengths to hide his identity. And then there was this man, whose family had connections with the Bianchi, but not enough to know details in how dangerous it could be, apparently. “Good thing you don’t want out even after this, because I’m pretty sure it’s already too late.” Now they knew stuff, the family wouldn’t be happy if stuff got told in case he wanted out. “It gets easier as you go… well, not really, but you get used to it.” And came to expect betrayals like that as well, if you’re Jacob and can’t stay loyal very long. The man still seemed a bit skittish, it would take a few days for all this excitement to process so he could come in terms with it, but Jacob honestly thought the man would be fine. He nodded at what he said, a good start indeed, a scare to show things won’t be easy, without anyone being injured… well, anyone that mattered anyway. Jacob didn’t often deal with newbies in a job, it most due to the fact that he usually worked alone, but as time went by with the Bianchi, he got to know quite a few people, some of them more incompetent than others, and now someone who could possibly grow into a fine criminal. Jacob huffed a laugh at what the man said. “Eh, we’ll see if you really can do it, don’t start throwing threats just yet.” He said playfully, an amused smirk hidden behind his mask. He hadn’t meant for the apology to be serious, but the man took it as that anyway. Jacob was well aware that he wasn’t the one calling the shots in the family, and frankly, he wouldn’t have any other way. Now if only they respected their employees more… “That’s usually how it goes, yeah. They tell you to do something, you do it” Jacob did what he was told, and so did most other Bianchi associates, it kinda worked most of the time, but this system had it flaws, situations like this one, where people could be caught in crossfire because they weren’t given enough information to go on, and then they get pissy. It wasn’t the most difficult thing in the world to report, Jacob usually told how it went down and then threw some sarcasm around if he was feeling particularly snaky and the person he was talking to wasn’t one heads of the family (it rarely was), but it would be a good experience for the new guy, he supposed. “Sure, tell them how everything went down.” He scoffed when the man explained how they might react badly. “Just tell them we would have been more successful with that if we had known this was a trap beforehand, not in an accusing way, but in a false apologetic way, like ‘I’m saying sorry but we both know it’s not true and we will pretend everyone here is civilized’.” Or at least that was how Jacob did it, it worked, usually. The Bianchi Manor soon was possible to be seen looming on the distance as the car approached more and more, it shouldn’t take them very long to arrive, and then his partner could do his first debriefing, with Jacob silently following curiously.

Three sleeping beauties Also known as the morning after Either Ruby grew cold as well or she finally discovered a little bit of shame in her. She grabbed the shirt Max had tried force on her and put it on, concealing the black lingerie completely. Jacob barely paid attention to her state of undress, he was more concerned in felling like garbage than note how little the three of them were wearing beyond the fact that him losing his shirt meant he felt cold. Vodka? Was that what they drank the night before? Jacob had no recollection of drinking such hard liquor, only the slightly stronger than usual beer. Vodka could certainly explain his amnesia and the terrible taste he had on his mouth. He grunted in agreement with Ruby, Vodka was the worst, he would never drink that again, it wasn’t worth it. The way Max pulled him into laying down and cuddling solved his cold problem quickly, the warmth seeped in, making Jacob slip into an state of comfort and bliss, why he though getting up was a good idea in the first place he would never know. It was a bit strange, how right now he had qualms about sharing a bed with two people, he was focused on what was comfortable right now, and not on what may or may not feel embarrassed over later. Friends did that, right? Share a bed on innocents sleep overs, nothing weird happening. His headache was still ever present, his mouth still tasted like shoe, and he felt a bit nauseous, but not enough to make him sick. Beside all these things, he was quite well though, and with Max and Ruby wrapped around him, making him feel warm in more ways than one, Jacob fell asleep once more. Next time he woke up was because of the bed shifting and a sudden cold as his ‘blanket’ went away. He opened his eyes and saw Max leaving the bed, his carefulness not enough to make Jacob remain asleep, but the mercenary said nothing as the cop silently gathered his stuff. It was like he was doing the walk of shame and sneaking out before anything could be discussed, the thought made him chuckle lightly, still not fully awake, but at least now he wasn’t about to pass out from a hungover, the pain had diminished a bit, and would disappear until the next day. He waited until he heard the door closing, signaling Max had left, before he finally gathered the courage to get up. He shot a look at Ruby, seeing if she was already awake, before walking towards the bathroom to try to at least make himself a little presentable. As suspect, Jacob had bags under his bloodshot eyes and his curls stood on every direction. He washed his face, tried to wash his mouth with a bit of water, and comb his hair using his fingers, it was only mildly successful. He went to the living room to gather his things before leaving, not sure if he should say something to Ruby or not. The only problem was that he didn’t find his shirt, he clearly remembered stretching it on the couch’s backrest, but it wasn’t there. It wasn’t on the floor either, and he was at loss to what could have happened, until he remembered Ruby was wearing Max’s shirt, and Max didn’t bring a coat or anything to put over himself. “Shirt thief.” He murmured to himself, wondering how did his clothes even fit Max in the first place. He grabbed his coat that was draped over one of the kitchen chairs, at least he wouldn’t have to go outside in the cold shirtless. With one last look towards Ruby’s bedroom, Jacob left the apartment.
