Mouse in the Lion's Den

With the thoughtfulness and kindness that Sophia exhibits in the small things she does every day one might think she would have a lot of friends but the truth is that she is so shy and so reclusive that she never tries to make those kinds of connections in her life. There's fear of rejection, fear of abandonment, etc. A shrink would have a field day with her. However, if you make it into that sacred sanctum of friendship with her it's for life. She would literally take a bullet for you. You can find her at work at the Diner or wandering around the public library or feeding pigeons and squirrels at the park. She also likes to visit the zoo. You won't find her out at bars or dancing the night away. In fact it might be hard to find her out at night at all if she can help it. She's kind of nervous and scared of her own shadow but with her history it's not really a surprise.

As far as she knows there are only two people that could fall into this category; her mother who she has always had a strained relationship with and her ex boyfriend in Ohio who is currently in prison for assault, battery, unlawful imprisonment, attempted murder and murder. The first four of those charges were from what he had done to her. These two people are a huge source of her anxiety and nervousness not to mention fear. Even though her ex is in a another state in a prison he still haunts her dreams every night.

Currently little Sophie isn't really looking for love. She hasn't had a lot of luck in that department nor good examples in her younger life of romantic bliss. This doesn't mean that she doesn't crave it with every fiber of her being. She wants a family, lots of children and a husband that is brave and strong and loving. Men will have big shoes to fill if they want to live up to the standards in her mind that were set by her father. He was the perfect example of what a man should be to her. He was brave and loyal and protective and loving. He was a cop that put his daughter first and never failed to make her feel loved and special. When he died in the line of duty back in Cleveland she never felt as safe as she had when he was alive. Any man coming into her life will have to be patient and kind and be prepared to move slow to win the trust and openness of this lady. She will make a great wife one day and mother as well but she is going to have to have someone break down those walls she has built up around herself, too scared to let anyone in first.
