❝ Got a Smoke? ❞ So this was his first job, just a simple diversion. And he even sent someone to look after my shoulder. Mr King surely doesn't like taking any chances I'll give him that.
After getting the details, he was supposed to meet up with his so-called partner, some Ruby Blackwood, in any case this was the most simple job he could get and it would be done professionally and to the word. At least this ought to get Ryan to entrust Smoke with more important contracts.
The rendezvous was at the beach of all places. Then they were going to take a shortcut through the city and get to the place where the target was. A diversion was going to take place, by Brann and Ruby, while another Enigma member would put some incriminating evidence inside the targets suitcase. A pretty simple plan really, and a clean job if nothing interfered.
Wait, now that I think about it he didn't give me an exact location. How in the hell am I supposed to find her?... Most likely she will find me, I'll stand out wearing this coat on the beach. I just hope she'll notice me quickly, this many people in one place, an assassin could be creeping around any corner, or worse, an acquaintance .

Ruby Red Blackwood @tavi | So this was how Ryan planned on doing things? Sending her out on the field (though in all honesty, the task was not a big deal) with some Enigma newbie riding her coattails and risking to jeopardize a simple mission just to test this new guy? But if Ryan thought it was alright, it must be..
Ruby personally loved testing people. Testing their nerves, limits, trying to make them snap or act against their will- it was all fun when the person you evaluated was the opponent. Now, with your 'partner' somewhat wishing to be part of Enigma, and also probably build himself some respect, it was more complicated. Complicated, as in, she couldn't break him. She was not really allowed to. The mafia was her family, and not only Ryan stated that a family should trust each other and behave around any other members. Maybe it was just Blackwood wanting to keep an eye on the guy from a distance, without interfering at the moment, like a cat creeping on people from her own corner, ready to unsheat the claws if the target in sight was being a prickle.
Not the case. She kept telling herself, building up more 'friendliness' than the basic defensive state, when meeting someone new. And after all, the woman was great at putting up a whole new facade.
The sun was up and not doing its single purpose anymore. It was cold as crap, as soon as you stepped outside, your nose froze. And on top of that, the meeting point was the beach, where the breeze basically cut through your skin with its low temperature. Thanks Ry.
It didn't take Ruby long to arrive, her black boots stepping onto the cold sand. She had this feeling, that the day was going to be crappy. Mostly because she had full sight of that large amount of water... The partner, Ruby. The blonde mentally scolded herself for letting suck small fear install in her bones, and turned her head, searching for the so called 'Smoke' guy.
Soon, her metal gaze rested upon a man's frame, who looked quite out of place. Red walked towards him at a normal peace, with her hands tucked in her coat's pockets. She had a small pocket knife in one, while the other only sheltered her phone. Ryan could give tasks or updates on their jobs through the cell phone, and one of the Israeli's rules forced her to have a knife in her possession 100% of the time.
"The weather sucks." Were the words to greet Smoke. Now, onto the distraction planning.. ♥ Painting white roses red; Each shade from A different person's head. |

❝ Got a Smoke? ❞ Does it now? I think it's quite nice, something to keep your mind sharp. Was this the best thing she could say? Well I guess some don't like the cold that much.
I guess you'd like to get inside for our discussion? Though let's make it quick, not that I have anything better to do, but this mission won't prove too difficult, now will it? Smoke said with none to subtle irony in his voice. He didn't much care what Red thought about him. Just the way he didn't care what Ryan thought about him. They will get used to me or I will have to leave their group, a loss only on their side, really. Though it'd be a shame t have to leave after only getting to know the boss.
I'm new to town so you'll have to provide a quiet location where we can speak. After that we can proceed as planned. Brann said in a slightly hurrying but not really kind of tone.
He wouldn't try the same "play dumb" tactic with her. I'd get too bored to even breathe plus dishonesty is not quite right even in this innocent form.
As for the equipment he prepared for this job, it wasn't anything spectacular, just the regular desert eagle, 12 gauge automatic, and some knives. Enough so he could protect himself if any "competitors" would arise but fewer weapons than the usual, as to not appear too aggressive or even scared on such a simple mission. I guess I do care what they think after all, at least when it comes to my professionalism.

Ruby Red Blackwood @tavi | She wasn't going to be nice or too friendly, the guy would be crazy to think so. Ruby wanted to finish this diversion task before she froze to death, and quite honestly she wanted it to be a success too. And on top of that, you didn't spell Blackwood by spelling kindness. Just do an effort, don't let the cold make you grumpy. The woman suggested to herself, and ignored it too. If he wanted to earn Enigma's trust, he won't do it by expecting royal treatment. Those were the Bianchi after all.
"The cold is fine, it's the wind that bothers me." That and the two shades of blue in front of her eyes, but that was besides the point. Her words were wrapped into a thick accent, Israeli, that would hopefully fade soon. Now, they weren't here to discuss the weather.
"Inside? Here's fine, we can be on the look out if the guy's here early." The blonde raised a hand from her pocket (empty yet the fist clenched) and inspected the watch at her wrist, noting it was 2 PM. The target was supposed to drop by at around 2:30 , as it's routine indicated and as Enigma provided the information. So the two had 30 minutes to settle on a plan, more or less. She placed her fist back into her pocket and looked up at Smoke. "We got thirty minutes to get this sorted. So, how does a heart attack sound to you? Or maybe a couple's loud fight?" They just had to grab everyone's attention, while the third member did their own job. Nothing too fancy needed, but nothing unbelievable or stupid either.
No one was paying them attention for now, so they could be planning here in the open. Usual civilians were not nosey. ♥ Painting white roses red; Each shade from A different person's head. |

❝ Got a Smoke? ❞ So she was going to be strictly professional, it was more than fine. It simplifies thinks a heck of a lot more. Just here to do a job.
Regarding the heart attack, I'm not a very good actor so I'd take the victim's place, if that is ok? Though born russian, only little of his accent remained, since he had travelled so much and picked up many other accents. In the end they all mended together forming a thick and deep voice with a metal feel to it.
As for a couple arguing, I can manage to keep up a facade, and I also have a pretty powerful voice. I don't really care with wich of the options we go, it's up to you, but any of them will do just fine. Smoke's voice was just as cold as the biting wind, and his face as stern as the atmosphere. She wouldn't get an expression of anything out of him until the contract was completed. No room for error. No mistakes, just hard and cold duty.
The fact that he had to act something was really annoying, couldn't she think of anything else? In any case, I'll reset the balance in another way. After this whole charade of a mission is done. Hopefully I'll get something more serious next time. Maybe even an assassination who knows? Now let's not get over excited, focus on the task at hand, as boring as it is.

Ruby Red Blackwood @tavi | So we was up for either of the acts, that was good to know. In any case, he did not suggest anything, which lead the woman to think that he didnt really come here with a plan, prepared at all. His voice was somewhat deep, he sure held the odds of being able to raise his voice and make it sound like a thunder, no doubt in that. But would people really stop to look at some young adults fighting over..what, who bought the parents the prettiest gift? The heart attack sounded way more appealing.
"Well, if you can fake having your heart give up on its main purpose, then you dont need to do anything else." The blonde nodded once, moving a hand to place away some strip of hair that got into her face.
The beach was quite empty, the lesser civilians around the better, she figured. Plus, who on Earth would even fucking visit the beach on such a cold ass day? The target must be some sort of lunatic.
In one ear, Ruby had an earpiece that would make it possible for her and the guy planting the evidence, to communicate; as soon as the task was over, the two assassins could stop making a scene..hopefully.
It didnt take long for the target to come into view either, and the words "he's here" got spoken through the earpiece. Red was unsure if Smoke had one too, it didnt matter much to be honest. "I got visual." With the corner of her eye, Ruby spotted the target and looked back at Smoke to let him know where the guy was (with just one look) , now waiting for him to drop to the ground or..whatever. ♥ Painting white roses red; Each shade from A different person's head. |

❝ Got a Smoke? ❞ It looked like the woman had decided, though with not a lot of interest, was something distracting her? Well, in any case Brann trusted she wouldn't give in to any superficial distraction, she was a professional after all. The words "I got a visual" followed by a swift look indicating where the target was, which Smoke was quick to catch, were all Brann needed as a signal to start the diversion.
She either had a very keen eye, or some kind of communication device with which she kept in touch with the other Enigma member. Most likely an earpiece, Brann wasn't one for gadgets though. Neither was his teacher, probably got the habit from him if I think about it. There wasn't a device in the world which couldn't get hacked. So why rely on anything other than his senses?
He had to play dead in the past so it was not anything really new, he even picked a trick about holding your pulse from his former teacher and stepfather. It proved useful only in one ocassion, but then again, it did most likely saved his life. The dropping to the ground part however, was a new thing. After delibarating how it should be done, and what would catch the civilian's eye he decided on a quick, sharp shout of pain and then simply dropping dead. It would suffice in getting enough attention and letting Red do her part. She was the one who suggested this act so she would have to be the one doing the most acting. Hopefully, she doesn't mess up.
In case anybody was actually watching them, he had to make it believeable, so after taking a few steps he grabbed the coat with his right hand, where the heart was placed and released a terryfying screech, amplified by his deep tone, collapsing to the ground.
There was only one problem......He managed to fall face first into a shard of broken glass which cut a gash in his left cheek. What were the odds of something like that even happening? He had to stay put, even though the wound wasn't shallow, he managed to calm himself and enter the transe like state where his pulse stopped for a duration of time, probably long enough for the Enigma mercenary to get his job done.

Ruby Red Blackwood @tavi | It could have been worse, you know? It could have been a mission on an actual boat.. She was still on solid ground, on the land, there was no actual need to worry about stuff. The water was at a great distance from them, only the sound of the waves and the breeze could be heard. Calm down, a'ight?
The target placed a foot onto the sand, beginning his march towards the other end of the beach. He was probably some sort of guy who loved long walks, or really cheesy enviroments, Ruby couldn't explain this routine of his. And at the signal, her newly assigned partner jumped into character and did his part.
A cry of pain was heard, as if someone got surprise-stabbed, and Smoke really put up a great act. The woman's eyes widened in a false worry, with her mouth gaping and her hands reaching out for the guy's frame as if to look like she was trying to catch him before falling.
"Kai? Kai!" She screamed terrorized, putting a hand on Brann's shoulder and crashing on her knees as he fell to the ground. Her gaze raised from the soon-to-be-or-not Enigma member, spotting the target too and looking around for any other people while yelling "Help! Somebody please! Kai, Kai please don't do this to me. Help! A doctor! Anyone!" The blonde's facial features expressed pure worry and fear, blending nicely with her yells that seemed to have caught the attention of the target too, not only other people. The target of this mission had stopped walking, dumping his suitcase on the sand and coming running towards the two, claiming to be a doctor himself. Well great..
"Oh my god, I think he's had a heart attack, please, please tell me he's not dead..please.." Ruby's voice was trembling, and her hands were covering her mouth and nose now, moving aside from Smoke when their target told her to make some room. She couldnt see the suitcase anymore, but she had recieved word in her earpiece that the evidence got planted just right. The man called an ambulance, Blackwood was faking an excellent sob and in a few moments (while the 'doctor' had no idea what to do but keep telling the woman that it will be alright) the sirene of the ambulance could be heard.
With the paramedics advancing towards the three, the target helped them get the hitman up on a stretcher. The woman got into the ambulance too, apparently allowed to stay there since the paramedics thought they were together or something. The man walked back to his suitcase, picking it up and seeing his road ahead, with the mission being done.
Smoke had a nasty cut across his cheek, it didnt go unnoticed by the paramedics for sure. They were luckily part of Enigma too, undercover bitches. The gang was great at fooling people. The two members took care of the man's wound, and Ruby let them know that the mission was a success. One of those fake paramedics must be a nurse at the hospital or something, maybe even a real doctor if they got access to an ambulance. But with Enigma, you never knew if it was an inside job, connections or just theft.
A few minutes later they were at the hospital, Red's fake had no more traces of tears and her waterproof mascara turned out to be a great idea. Smoke laid on a hospital bed in a room, and the paramedic from Enigma said he'd be around him until he woke up. He called it some pulse trick, and Ruby was familliar with such techniques from her father's training. She never really used it in the army though, which was a pity. She took a piece of paper from her purse and wrote "good job" on it, leaving it on the nightstand next to Smoke. The red ink would be more than enough of a clue.
Then, she went home and tucked herself in a ton of blankets to forget the cold ass weather completely. ♥ Painting white roses red; Each shade from A different person's head. |

❝ Got a Smoke? ❞ When Smoke woke up, through blurred eyelids, he saw the ceiling of what could only be a hospital. That meant an ambulance was called and he got sent to the emergency chamber of the hospital. getting to his senses, he found that thankfully, his clothes were not removed to be replaced by a paper towel, like the other usual patients would get. On the little table next to his bed, he found a piece of paper on which was written "good job" in red ink. Smoke was quick to make the connection between his former partner's code name and the color of the ink. So this was left by her. He didn't get the congratulatory letter, he didn't do anything, this mission could have been completed when he was 8 years old. Well, now I'll get something more serious, this probably was only something to prove his loyalty.
As he got up and left the hospital, he headed towards his the room he had rented. It was not anything expensive. As much as 100 dollars a month would afford. He didn't need to be comfortable, he only needed a place in which he could train and sleep, well if 3 hours a night could be called sleeping. It was all part of a routine. He was not surprised to find the payment for that month in a package at his door step. After taking 150 dollars from the envelope, he left his apartment and went on a walk to downtown. The first beggar he saw was a little boy who couldn't have been more than 7 years old. "Follow me boy" he said and lead the beggar to the nearest bank where he opened an account for the boy with the money left in his payment. "You can survive off this money for a year, boy" was all he said before leaving and returning to his apartment to start training again.
